Lake
Livingston
The
many and varied facets of the Lake Livingston, Texas area.
Covering more than 93,000 acres, Lake Livingston is the
second largest lake completely in Texas and is located only
80 miles north of Houston, and 175 miles from Dallas. Lake
Livingston, San Jacinto County and neighboring Polk County
offer an abundance of recreational activities. including
fishing, skiing, sailing and boating. Native game fish include
black bass, white bass, catfish, stripers, blue gill and
crappie. In addition to water related activities, the area
offers a great selection of campgrounds, RV parks, marinas,
lodging and dining facilities and there are many opportunities
for commercial and residential development. Within Coldspring,
you will find warm, friendly people and a quaint, historical
downtown area which will make you feel at home!
Coldspring
County Court House
Coldspring is the county seat of San
Jacinto County, listed as one of the fastest growing counties
in the State of Texas. The county, with a population of
more than 25,000, is conveniently located between Interstate
45 to the West and U.S. 59 to the East within an hour, north
of the Metropolitan Houston area.
Numerous historical markers are located throughout the area,
including the San Jacinto Court House which was constructed
about 1918 following the destruction by fire of the original
courthouse in 1915 at Old Town. Another Historical marker
is located at the site of the old San Jacinto County jail
which now houses the county museum.
From
Houston via I-45
Take
I-45 North and exit at FM 1097 in Willis. Turn east on FM
1097 and continue to Hwy 150. Follow Hwy 150 into Coldspring.
At the first stop light in Coldspring turn left onto Hwy
156. Follow Hwy 156 for 1 mile and turn right onto FM 224.
Follow FM 224 approximately five mles to Cape Royale on
the right.
From Houston via US 59
From Houston take US 59 North and exit FM
2025 in Cleveland. Turn left on FM 2025. Follow FM 2025
for 18 miles to Hwy 150. Turn right towards Coldspring.
Turn left at the first stop light onto Hwy 156. Follow Hwy
156 for 1 mile and turn right onto FM 224. Follow FM 224
approximately 5 miles to Cape Royale on the right.

From
Houston take US 59 North and exit at Hwy 150 in Shepherd.
Turn left at Hwy 150 and follow to Coldspring. Turn right
onto Hwy 156 in Coldspring. Follow Hwy 156 for 1 mile and
turn right onto FM 224. Follow FM 224 approximately five
miles to Cape Royale on the right. |
